Best party game apps for Indian house parties (2026): charades, imposter and mafia on one phone

For most Indian house parties with a mix of iPhones and Android phones, Plarty is the safest pick: free desi charades, guessing, humming and drawing games on both stores, with a Kids Mode. Pick Bawaal if you're on Android and want imposter, mafia and Antakshari in one free, ad-free app. Pick Undercover for imposter rounds in Hindi or Tamil.

Which party game app should you pick?

The right party game app depends on your group's phones, languages and favourite game. These are our picks as of October 2026:

• Best for mixed iPhone and Android groups: Plarty, with free desi charades, guessing and drawing games on both stores and a Kids Mode.
• Best for adult friend groups who want imposter, mafia and Antakshari on one Android phone: Bawaal, with 12 games, no ads and no account.
• Best for global decks such as Friends and Marvel: Heads Up!, the Warner Bros. forehead-guessing game made famous by Ellen DeGeneres.
• Best for family forehead guessing on iPhone: CHIKOO, with 50+ Indian decks and no ads.
• Best for imposter games in Indian languages: Undercover, with a Hindi word pack and an app available in Tamil, Bengali and Malayalam.
• Best for a voice-narrated mafia night: Mafia Party Game: Moderator, which calls every phase aloud.

How do these party game apps compare?

Plarty and Bawaal are the broadest desi bundles, while Heads Up!, CHIKOO, Undercover and Mafia Party Game: Moderator each focus on one game. Prices are Indian store prices.

Is Plarty the best all-round desi party app?

For groups that mix iPhones and Android phones, Plarty is the most complete desi party app we found. Plarty, from Advitlabs, is free on Google Play and the App Store.

Its free games include Heads Set Go (forehead guessing), Swipe Charades, Desidoodle (drawing), Hum Zam (hum the song), Hook Step Challenge and Rapid Fire, which the listing says is available in Hindi and Telugu. It works offline and has a Kids Mode. Two premium games, Fast Pass and Timer Rush, need a purchase; Premium Mode is ₹99 on the App Store in India.

The gap: Plarty's listing has no imposter or mafia game.

Choose Plarty if your group has both iPhones and Android phones, includes young children, or wants drawing and humming games alongside charades.

Does Heads Up! have Bollywood decks?

Not that its store listings show, as of October 2026. Heads Up! lists 40+ themed decks, such as Harry Potter, Friends, Marvel, Blockbuster Movies and Accents, but no Bollywood or Indian deck. Heads Up! is the Warner Bros. charades game by Ellen DeGeneres: hold the phone to your forehead, tilt down for a correct guess, tilt up to pass.

It's free to install on Google Play with in-app purchases, and ₹199 on the App Store in India, where extra decks such as Friends cost ₹299. It can record a video of each round, and the paid Build Your Own Deck (₹299 on the App Store in India) lets you create your own category, which is one way to add Bollywood films yourself.

Choose Heads Up! if your crowd knows Hollywood and Western pop culture better than Bollywood, or you want Ellen's forehead game on both iPhone and Android.

Is Bawaal good for imposter, mafia and Antakshari nights?

Yes, if you're on Android. Bawaal: Desi Party Games is our app, made for adult friend groups at house parties: 12 games on one phone for 3 to 16+ players. Its Google Play listing says it's free, works offline, has no ads and no account, and collects no data.

Bawaal covers the games Indian groups already play:

• Sar Pe Phone: forehead guessing with 20+ decks, including Bollywood movies, filmy dialogues, cricket, South blockbusters and shaadi scenes.
• Bina Bole: dumb charades with 900+ films, songs and shows.
• Chor Kaun? and Gangs of Ghar: imposter and mafia, where the app moderates so nobody sits out.
• Antakshari: letter, hum karo and hook-step rounds, with teams, a timer and scores.
• Quick rounds: never have I ever, would you rather, most likely to, and truth or dare.

Cards don't repeat in a night.

The limits are real. Bawaal is new, its iPhone app isn't on the App Store yet, and cards are in English and Hindi only. iPhone users can play the free browser version in Safari, though the Android app is the one whose listing covers all 12 games. More about Bawaal.

Choose Bawaal if your group of adult friends wants imposter, mafia, Antakshari and charades in one free Android app, without ads or sign-ups.

Is CHIKOO good for family charades on iPhone?

Yes. CHIKOO: Indian Charades Game, from Burnt Cinnamon Labs, is a forehead-guessing game for Indian families, with 50+ Indian decks covering Bollywood, food, desi brands, landmarks, cricket legends and festivals, plus Tamil and kids' decks. Its listing says ages 6 to 60+ can play together.

It's free to download, plays fully offline and promises no subscriptions and no ads. Some decks, including Bollywood Hits, cost ₹149 to ₹199 each on the App Store in India. We found no Google Play version as of October 2026.

Choose CHIKOO if everyone is on iPhone, you mainly want forehead guessing, and you need decks that work for kids and grandparents alike.

Which imposter app works in Hindi or Tamil?

Undercover: Word Party Game, by Yanstar Studio, is the best imposter app for Indian languages: its App Store listing shows the app in 45 languages, including Hindi, Tamil, Bengali and Malayalam, and sells a Hindi word pack. Everyone gets the same secret word except the Undercover, who gets a slightly different one, and Mr. White, who gets none.

Undercover's offline mode runs on one phone that you pass around; online mode needs an account. It's free on Google Play with ads and in-app purchases. On the App Store in India, the full version is ₹599 and a 1,000+ word Hindi pack is ₹399.

Bawaal's Chor Kaun? plays a similar game in Hinglish, but Undercover offers far more languages and optional special roles.

Choose Undercover if imposter is your group's main game, or you want the app in Tamil, Bengali or another Indian language.

Is there an app that runs mafia for you?

Yes. Mafia Party Game: Moderator (called Mafia Host in its description, by Nikolai Kartuzov) is a voice narrator for Mafia and Werewolf. It announces each phase, waits for night actions and manages voting, so nobody has to sit out as host.

It goes deeper than a party bundle, with nine roles, including Doctor, Sheriff, Don and Maniac, and two voting systems. In big groups, the first player out can become an assistant who enters night actions. It's free on Google Play with ads and in-app purchases; we found it on Google Play only.

Choose Mafia Party Game: Moderator if your group plays mafia seriously and wants special roles and a choice of voting systems.

When should you choose another app instead of Bawaal?

Choose another app instead of Bawaal when your group's phones, languages or setup don't suit an Android-first, Hinglish app. Four common cases:

• Your host has an iPhone. Bawaal's iPhone app isn't on the App Store yet. Plarty, Heads Up!, CHIKOO and Undercover all are.
• Your group plays in Telugu, Tamil or Bengali. Bawaal is English and Hindi only. Plarty has Telugu rapid fire, CHIKOO has a Tamil deck, and Undercover's app is available in Tamil, Bengali and Malayalam.
• You have young children. Plarty has a dedicated Kids Mode and CHIKOO has a series of kids' decks; Bawaal is made for adult groups.
• You want a TV game where everyone uses their own phone. Jackbox Party Packs run on a host device such as a PC, console, Apple TV, Fire TV or certain Android smart TVs. Only the host buys a pack; players join at jackbox.tv in their phone browser, which needs internet.

How did we compare these apps?

We compared official store listings, websites and help pages, checked on 19 October 2026. We did not hands-on test the rival apps. Prices are the Indian Google Play and App Store prices shown that day, and they can change. We left out ratings and download counts, and included only apps with a current Google Play or App Store listing.
